Centerline: 

• Rank 22 with a record of 5-9-0 and was a quarter-finalist.
• Safety Award sponsored by Underwriters Laboratories

Howell: 

• Team 1189 was Rank 31 with a record of 6-9-1
• District Chairman's Award

Marysville:

• Team 1189 was Rank 6 with a record of 9-8-0

Michigan State Championships:

• Team 1189 was Rank 20 with a record of 7-8-0 ​

2017 was a banner year, literally, since The Gearheads earned for the first time since their founding in 2002-2003 school year a coveted blue banner. Blue banners are awarded typically to the members of the winning alliances at each competition, regional, district, state, or world championship. The highest finish in competitions up until 2017 had been a district event finalist, but not on the winning alliance. The Howell event was the last chance of the team to qualify for the Michigan State Championship. Despite valiant efforts by the drive team we did not make the cut to earn enough points to land on the winning alliance. But
